Balcony Greenhouse

We've spent some time outside today. After the Winter there is a lot to do, but today was a good start. Two days ago my Mom and I went to a mini gardening class at a garden center. I got some tips and did some shopping. One of the things I got was this balcony greenhouse. I hope it will be full of basil, lettuce and tomatoes this year. It's a little too cold outside at this point, so I'm going to start by planting some seeds in small containers and have them in the windowsill for now.

Counting Down

For different reasons I've had a little break from blogging, but I'm planning on doing some more blogging now. We're in the middle of remodeling the bedroom, and I'm excited about showing you the new room soon. :-) Sometimes we can be very impulsive. About the bedroom we just suddenly found out that we "had to" remodel it, since we're having guests coming next week. We went to Ikea the same day and bought a new wardrobe. The bedroom is almost ready, and in six days it has to be done. That's when the in-laws are coming all the way from the U.S. We're so excited about seeing them again. It's been about two years since they visited us last time, and that was before we moved into the house where we live now. And it's 7 months since we saw them last Summer. But first we have Mother's Day and Valentine's Day to celebrate. Lots of good times to look forward to!

Merry Christmas

It's been some busy weeks. We're having a little Christmas break now, and are looking forward to some relaxing and fun days together. I might be a little childish when it comes to Christmas, and I'm probably as excited as Pumpkin about the next couple of days. :-)
This is the Christmas star that's in our window. We decided to put the Christmas tree in front of the window this year, and it looks nice from the street with all the lights.

A couple of love ornaments. The penguin ornament is my favorite of all our ornaments. Augsburg College is where we met, fell in love and got married.

We bought the Santa tree topper for our first Christmas together.

Hope you'll have som nice and relaxing days with your families.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas in Our House

NIB's December challenge is "Christmas in Our House". We still have some boxes of Christmas decorations to put out, but we have started to decorate a little bit. I'm really excited about decorating our Christmas tree, and we're planning on doing that in about a week.
Concrete heart from Village and moss from our yard is making our front porch cozy for Christmas.
I planted a hyacinth in one of my favorite cups and put it in our coffe corner. I love hyacinths and have a lot of them for Christmas.

Christmas Calendar

This year I hung Pumpkin's Christmas calendar on the plateshelf in his room. The calendar includes activities, some small treats and a couple of toys. Since Pumpkin hasn't started reading my blog yet, I can tell you that the activity for tomorrow is decorating his room for Christmas. He's very excited about getting his little tree out, and has been talking about it for several days.

I'm linking this to Norske Interiørblogger where bloggers are showing their calendars and advent candles. You can see more here

Advent

Tenn lys!
Et lys skal brenne for denne lille jord.
Den blanke himmelstjerne, der vi og alle bor.
La alle dele håpet, så gode ting kan skje.
Må jord og himmel møtes, et lys er tent for det.

Lucky I'm in Love ...

... With My Best Friend.
Last Saturday was 5 years since Mr. Smith and I got married. We got married in the Augsburg Chapel (Minneapolis), at the school where we met. It was a small wedding, and only the closest family were there. After the ceremony we went out for dinner at our favorite restaurant Olive Garden.

We celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary in Gothenburg. We were there for three days, walking hand in hand, stopping at small cafés, had nice dinners, did some fun shopping and watched a couple of movies.
Eight monts later we had a big wedding celebration in the old town of Fredrikstad.

I feel lucky to have found my soulmate, and lucky I'm in love with my best friend. Here you can read more about our love story.

Jar for Firestarters

I really don't like the box that the firestarters come in. I've been thinking of something else to put them in, and I found this old ikea jar that I decorated a little bit. I love jars, they can be used for so many things!

Mr. Smith is working again this weekend. Pumpkin and I have been to the movies and seen Winnie the Pooh. Jacob loved it.

Great Saturday to you all!
